In 2007 the number of passengers going through Mallorca's airport will remain increasing. 2.499.936 registered Spanish passengers, a 5,94% more than in January-May 2005 period, 2.339.108 from Germany and 1.071.450 passengers arrived from the United Kingdom during the first five months of the year.

Currently there are eighty headquarters for hotel chains; twelve tour operators and ten airlines. Twenty of those hotel chains have exported know-how to other destinations (Caribbean, Centre and South America, Africa and Asian Southeast).

This is the reason why a knowledge industry was developed around the tourism sector, including: software developers; organization consultancy, environmental care, tourism development studies and human resources; architectonical, decoration and installations; etc. Without a doubt Mallorca is not only the epicenter of Mediterranean tourism.
